Dare to dream - GDT Elizabeth Craft Designs

How are you today? Doing fine, I hope! Today I'm sharing my first of two guest projects of this month to Elizabeth Craft Designs. For the two I took inspiration from the arrows and the dream catcher and the Indian feel. My first project is a layout, as you can see, which I created with step by step tutorial and my second project is a card. You can see the step by step tutorial here (link) in Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.

The photo in my layout is taken a couple of years ago on a local train when I was heading to demo in a craft fair. If I recall correctly, it was my first time to demo in this event. Nowadays I'm fortunate enough to demo there on regular basis. The warm tones of the photo and the gaze to the future fitted my page perfectly so I did a page about dreams and how to keep dreaming and reaching for the goals.

What do you dream about? Keep on working towards them! Wishing you a lovely start to the week!

Easy starry cards - Finnabair Ambassador

Hello there and great Saturday! Yesterday's post talked about the Finnabair Michael's release and today is connected to the same topic. These cards are made for the most recent Finnabair Ambassadors's post, which you can see here (link). The topic is simplicity. The idea is to encourage those who are unfamiliar with mixed media and Finn's products to try them out and talk about what simplicity means to the designers.

The idea behind these cards was to make own glitter past and then turn it into simple cards. Like I say in the post in Finn's blog - me and simplicity are good friends when we meet occasionally. When the project turns out simple by itself, it's good, but I simply can't create a simple project. I always add more and use more than one technique and... On the other hand, that's my way of creating. I like when the creating is simple and it comes easy.

I used the glitter paste also in the little spoon canvas of the last post. Both pastes are made with 3D Gloss Gel but for these cards I used a yellow glitter and for the canvas I used a turquoise one. The technique in both is the same - make the paste and then add it to the project through a stencil. For the cards I used a star one and for the canvas a square shape.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great weekend!

Finnabair at Michaels

If you follow me on Instagram or in Twitter you may have noticed a new hashtag appearing in some posts and projects emerging which haven't been blogged. This is all because of something that happened yesterday - Finnabair's art babies, a selection of them, are now available at Michaels! You can see the selection here (link). There's Mixed Media Essentials, Clear Gesso, Microbeads, Glitter Set, Mica set, Rust and Patina paste set and Mica Flakes set.

Naturally this is big news for her and I support her in this new adventure! I'm also happy to say that I belong into a team of people who's there to promote and help with the launch. I love her so much for being so supportive, so friendly and amazing. Thank you Anna for all your lovely words along the years and many many hugs!

In this post I show two of the projects I've so far shared only in Instagram and details in Twitter. If you want to see the steps to make this blue and sparkly piece, please see this post (link). I've used the mediums that Michaels now sells in both of these pieces. In this blue one I've used glitter, 3D Gloss Gel, Soft Gloss Gel, Mica powder and Microbeads.

Here's the other project. It's done with Black Gesso, 3D Gloss Gel, Microbeads, Soft Gloss Gel, Ruste Paste and Patina Paste sets. For more details of these two, please scroll down! You can see the cassette used in this project here (link) in it's first stage and a short video of making the background here (link)

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely Friday! And if you happen to live near a Michaels, please see the selection they now carry!

Cards for Tape Garden

Yesterday I shared some layout I made for Tape Garden and today I share a couple of cards I sent to them. They are pretty different, but what they have in common is the use of tapes and other supplies from the shop.

This pink card has a mixed media inspired background and then some pretty blooms on top. The yellow leaves are stamped used a waterlily stamp from a gold fish set. I also included some shaped tape into the card.

This other card is more straight forward. The pattern behind the fish bowl is done with washi tape and the gold fishes and plants as well as the whole bowl is stamped and then cut loose.

If you didn't already visit Tape Garden yesterday, here's a link to their shop (link)! Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely day!

Layouts for Tape Garden

Hello hello! Today's post is a special one for a couple of reasons. First there's two layouts is one post and secondly these pages are made for a lovely Finnish company called Tape Garden. They specialize in washi tapes, planners and paper crafting goodies like stickers. You can go explore the selection Tape Garden has from here (link), their webshop. They ship worldwide!

The first page is sort of encouragement page to myself, "you got this". There's some watercolors in the background and a little stamping, too. On top then there's some washi tapes. Supplies from Tape Garden are the tapes, stamps, stickers and the little golden paperclip.

The other page is about an armor exhibition we saw last summer. The armors were really gorgeous and wonderfully detailed. We all enjoyed the show very much. Even kids liked to study these protective suits for quite a while!

Because of the subject I felt something sturdier was needed for the background so I used the oil pastels in there. Like in the first page, the tapes and stickers are from Tape Garden.

Thank you for your visit today! Have a great Tuesday!

Oh these two! - Creative Magazine

It's start of the new week again. Hopefully you had a good, relaxing weekend! Here's the third layout I did for Creative Magazine. Whereas the two before had a pink color palette, I used turquoise and mint for this one. You can see the whole magazine here (link) in a post on the magazine's blog

The two pink ones were of my daughters and kind of stereotypically this turquoise one is of two boys - my husband and my father. It's so wonderful to watch them work together and inspire each other. My father is a carpenter, has been for decades and knows the ways the wood behaves and how you can manipulate it. My husband is an instrument builder, testing the limits of instruments and sound. It's so thrilling to see the spark of both of their eyes when they have an idea how a piece of the musical instrument should be made.

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a great start to the new week!

Furry friend - Creative Magazine

It's Sunday, yay! How's your weekend been so far? Good, I hope! Yesterday I shared my first page for the latest issue of Creative Magazine and here's the second. The first one was about my older daughter so naturally I needed to balance things with a page about my younger one.

Both of my girls like animals, but my younger one is great with them. She's really good handling my father's big dog even though it's almost bigger than she is. The two of them are almost inseparable when together!

Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a lovely start to the new week!
